Dennis Lyxzén, frontman of the Swedish political punks the (International) Noise Conspiracy, first conceived the project that later became INVSN in 1998 under the name the Lost Patrol. This solo outlet emerged after his hardcore outfit the Refused disbanded, allowing him to pursue sounds beyond noise. The resulting 1999 album Songs in the Key of Resistance reflected the political folk style of artists such as Billy Bragg. While simultaneously forming the (International) Noise Conspiracy, which dominated his schedule, Lyxzén revived the Lost Patrol in 2003 with Songs About Running Away on Burning Heart Records. That record adopted a poppier direction, examined the melancholy aftermath of a broken love affair, and enlisted more than twenty musicians. Although his main band remained active, he devoted greater attention to the Lost Patrol. In 2005 the solo venture solidified into a proper band, adopting the name the Lost Patrol Band with a stable lineup of Lyxzén on guitar and vocals, Robert Pettersson on bass, André Sandström on drums, Anders Stenberg on guitar, and Jonas Lidström on keyboards. Their self-titled release on Burning Heart offered a more straightforward, poppy sound. The group switched to Invasionen in 2010 and issued Hela Världen Brinner, written and sung in Swedish while returning to rowdy punk roots. The following year saw the darker-toned Saker Som jag Sagt Till Natten. In 2013 they signed with Razor & Tie, officially became INVSN, and released an eponymous album in both English and Swedish. Moving to the Swedish indie label Woah Dad! in 2016, they issued their second INVSN album, The Beautiful Stories.
