Biography
London-based artist Jnr Choi draws from an eclectic range of influences, weaving drill, R&B, trap, and mainstream rap elements into individual tracks. Those varied textures surfaced throughout his debut album SS21, issued in 2021, yet the atmospheric drill cut “To The Moon” emerged as a breakout months later.
Born in South East London, Jnr Choi lived for a period in Gambia before returning to England during his late teens to launch a modeling career. After several years in front of the camera he turned toward music, issuing early singles such as 2018’s “MOVES” and 2020’s “BELVEDERE.” July 2021 brought the full-length SS21, which included guest spots from One Mojo, Manna, and additional contributors. Standalone single “To The Moon” followed in November, a spacey drill production built on Sam Tompkins’ cover of Bruno Mars’ “Talking to the Moon.” The track spread rapidly across TikTok, accumulating millions of plays while climbing streaming charts, prompting a Gunna remix as well as a further version featuring G Herbo, Fivio Foreign, and others.
