Biography
In 2011 Joe Douglass formed Spirit of Praise after receiving a church booking he preferred not to fulfill solo. Under Douglass’s direction and with David Jackson serving as musical director and producer, the Bay Area contemporary gospel choir and band comprise well over twenty members. These young, fully energized adults stepped onto the public stage for the first time in April 2012; two years afterward they issued the live recording Redemption, which included appearances by Tye Tribbett, Lena Byrd Miles, Chrystal Rucker, and other peers. Joe Douglass and Spirit of Praise followed up in 2015 with The Great I Am on the JDI label.
