Jon Guerra, recognized for his richly layered approach to faith-inspired alternative CCM, emerged from the Chicago rock circuit prior to becoming part of the Vertical Church Band worship group during the early 2010s. He subsequently pursued an independent path as a spiritually oriented singer-songwriter with broader reach, achieving chart placement through his first full-length release, Little Songs, in 2015. Alongside his wife Valerie Guerra he issued multiple singles and holiday collections as a duo before resuming solo output with Keeper of Days in 2020 and Ordinary Ways in 2023.

Los Angeles-born and later raised in Houston and Wheaton, Illinois, Guerra absorbed the music of Jeff Buckley, Bob Dylan, and Radiohead during his formative years. After settling in Chicago, he and Valerie performed with their self-described “gypsy prog rock” ensemble Milano while also composing advertising jingles and commercial tracks; the couple additionally put out a run of Christmas singles in the first half of the 2010s. Drawn into the Christian music sphere, Guerra collaborated with Meredith Andrews, Seth McConkey, and fellow members of the Vertical Church Band songwriting and worship team. Following appearances on their albums Live Worship from Vertical Church (2012) and Rock Won't Move (2013), he issued a solo effort under the moniker JAGUERRA as part of the Vinyl Me Please subscription series.

After signing with Sony’s Essential Records imprint, Guerra inaugurated his solo trajectory under his own name with the 2014 single “I Will Follow,” which appeared on that year’s EP Glass. His debut album Little Songs arrived in 2015 and registered strongly not only on Billboard’s Christian chart but also on its Heatseekers and Folk charts. That same year he and Valerie released a complete Christmas album as a duo, after which they began recording and performing as Praytell. Guerra’s solo work progressed with the 2017 Working Demos 2 EP and the 2020 album Keeper of Days. After contributing to projects by JUDAH. and Vertical Worship, he issued his third solo album, Ordinary Ways, in 2023.
