Canadian electronic act Kasablanca fuses progressive house, techno, and new wave into a futuristic sound shaped by science-fiction themes. The pair surfaced in 2020 with releases on Armada and Mau5trap while also linking up with Lane 8. They joined Bob Moses for the 2022 single "Afterglow" and secured a contract with Anjunabeats that year. Higher Resolution (Side A), the opening half of their first album, surfaced in 2024.

The project is credited to Alexi Kasablanca and Mikola (Micky) Kasablanca, who had already collaborated before launching Kasablanca in early 2020. "Hold Me Close," "Alive," and "Be There" appeared on Armada, the label founded by Armin van Buuren, while the Lane 8 track "Run" came out on This Never Happened. Additional Armada singles were later gathered on the EP Human Learning. "Cronus" followed in 2021 on Deadmau5’s Mau5trap Recordings.

Their first Anjunabeats single, "Immunity," arrived in early 2022. They continued mainly with the imprint, though "Transitory" landed on Mau5trap and the Bob Moses collaboration "Afterglow" was issued by Domino and Astralwerks. The Lucid Audio EP was released in 2023 and succeeded by Crossing the Rubicon. During the final stretch of the Crossing the Rubicon tour in early 2024, Micky announced a cancer diagnosis, leading the duo to cancel remaining dates so he could begin chemotherapy. Later that year they returned with the two-part debut album Higher Resolution (Side A), which includes appearances by anamē and Lane 8 as well as a version of the Prodigy’s "Breathe."
