Lazo

Born in Castle Bruce, Dominica, Lazo relocated to Canada in 1980. He supplied guitar, bass and keyboards—along with vocals, songwriting, production and arrangements—to area ensembles specializing in zouk, reggae and calypso, a path that led to widespread recognition and onstage work with reggae luminaries such as the Wailers, Sly & Robbie and Maxi Priest. His debut album, Impetus, secured the Top Reggae Performer of the Year award at the 1993 Canadian Music Reggae Awards. Ras Records issued Something Real in March 1995.
