Luttenberger*Klug formed as an Austrian pop/rock act styled after Christina Stürmer and Silbermond, built around vocalist and guitarist Chrissi Klug, born February 5, 1989, alongside vocalist and keyboardist Michelle Luttenberger, born July 12, 1990. The pair first crossed paths at one of Chrissi Klug’s own shows, where a swift friendship took hold. Under the Luttenberger*Klug banner they cut their first single, “Super Sommer” (Super Summer), in 2005; its 2006 reissue climbed onto both the Austrian and German charts. Later that fall the follow-up “Vergiss Mich” (Forget Me) arrived and topped the Austro Hit Top Ten. Their debut album, the pop/rock set Mach Dich Bereit! (Get Ready!), produced by Alexander Kahr—known for his work with Stürmer—came out in February 2007, peaked at number five on the Austrian charts, and drew mixed notices. Chrissi Klug, Michelle Luttenberger, and their backing musicians—Hari Vorraber on drums, Ali G. on lead guitar, and Patrick Braun on bass—performed multiple concerts throughout 2007, including opening slots for fellow Austrian pop singer Christina Stürmer, the Sugababes, and teen rockers Tokio Hotel.
