Biography
Emerging from Hamburg, the power duo Mantar fuses gnarly, punk-infected doom metal with punishing black metal in an unholy amalgamation. The project originated with local residents Hanno Klärhardt on guitar and vocals alongside Erinç Sakarya on drums. Two longtime friends launched the band in 2012 and list early Melvins, Darkthrone, and Motörhead among their inspirations. Mantar released its debut studio long player, Death by Burning, on Svart Records in 2014 before shifting to Nuclear Blast for the sophomore outing Ode to the Flame in 2016.
