Biography
Drawing from classic soul, rock, disco, and acid house, London producer and DJ Marcus Marr crafts expansive, celestial dance tracks that regularly weave in bubbling synth lines, groovy bass guitar, and vocal touches. The 2010 single "Well Alright" served as his debut release. During that period he contributed vocals to Toby Tobias' You Know EP while also handling remixes for Bottin and Shit Robot. DFA put out Marr's "The Music" in 2013; the single earned widespread praise, notably from Spin, which placed it among the year's standout dance tracks. After delivering a remix of Röyksopp and Robyn's "Monument Dance" in 2014, DFA followed with Marr's "Brown Sauce" in early 2015, again drawing strong acclaim. He next joined forces with Chet Faker (Nick Murphy) on the four-song EP Work, which spawned the hit singles "Birthday Card" and "The Trouble with Us." DFA released Marr's solo single "Rocketship" in 2016; the track later surfaced on Familiar Five, his first EP for the label, which appeared in 2018.
