Biography
Before embarking on a solo path, the 90s UK pop-dance singer Kiani fronted the techno and house ensemble the Time Frequency, a Glasgow-based act from Scotland commonly known by the abbreviation TTF. The group achieved major success north of the border, securing the top Scottish chart position with “Real Love,” a track that also climbed to number 8 on the primary UK singles listing. Additional UK Top 40 entries from the band encompassed “New Emotion” and “The Ultimate High.” Kiani’s first appearance on Top Of The Pops came alongside TTF, and the outfit also opened for Prince at Edinburgh’s Meadowbank Stadium. She subsequently collaborated with the Welsh outfit Waterfront, whose American tour earned widespread praise and whose single “Cry” reached number 6 on the Billboard charts. In 1995 she inked a solo deal under the same management guiding Dina Carroll, MN8 and Eternal, then issued her debut solo single “When I Call Your Name” that August; it entered the UK charts at number 18 in its opening week. The December follow-up arrived as the double a-side “I Give It All To You”/“I Imagine,” pairing a ballad with a driving techno-house cut and featuring remixes by producers such as Tony De Vit and Eddie Fingers, which once more registered as a chart success.
