Known as a French pop singer and songwriter, Maya Barsony attained moderate commercial traction in 2008 through her Sony BMG debut release. As half-sister to French pop superstar Arthur D, her opening full-length project arrived in 2001 when EMI issued the self-titled Barsony. Limited sales prompted the label to end the arrangement. Years afterward she joined Sony BMG, another major imprint, and revived her recording activity with the 2008 album Femme d'Extérieur. Though it surpassed her earlier effort without reaching mainstream breakthrough, the album was advanced by lead single "La Pompe à Diesel," which appeared digitally as a multi-track EP.
