Biography
Contemporary gospel quartet Men of Standard brought together vocalists Michael Bacon, Isaac Carree, Bryan Pierce, and Lowell Pye. Carree and Pye, each a veteran of John P. Kee’s New Life Community Choir, launched the ensemble alongside Pierce, who had previously served as youth pastor at Greater St. Stephens church in New Orleans. After several roster shifts, the configuration stabilized once Bacon, a respected producer from his hometown of Dallas, joined the ranks. David Caldwell produced the group’s self-titled debut, which the Muscle Shoals Sound label issued in 1996, while Feels Like Rain arrived three years afterward.
