Hailing from Switzerland, Mr. Da-Nos built a following as a DJ, producer, and remixer focused on mainstream commercial dance music performed chiefly in English. Roland Bunkus launched his recording career in 1998 through the mix album House Nation, the earliest of many such projects. The 2003 release “I Promised You (Anything)” marked his first self-produced single to appear on the Swiss singles chart, entering the Top 100 at number 98, while his 2004 dance version of the Doobie Brothers’ “Long Train Running” climbed higher, reaching the Top 50. Later album releases routinely landed inside the Top Ten. During 2008 he issued three mix albums that each reached number one: Doublehouse, Vol. 10, Summer Parade 2008, and The One and Only. In 2009 Mr. Da-Nos honored fans, many of whom tattoo his name on their bodies, by releasing the album Tattoo. One Nation appeared in 2010, followed by Blue in 2012. Teaming with the Swiss production team Bigger Than Blue, he issued the album Green in 2013. The next year, timed to the World Cup, he joined the Product G&B and Maury on the single “Summer Nights in Brazil.”
