Past Lives

Following the 2007 breakup of the Blood Brothers, Johnny Whitney and Cody Votolato relocated to Portland, OR, where they launched Jaguar Love alongside former members of Pretty Girls Make Graves. Meanwhile, vocalist Jordan Blilie, drummer Mark Gajadhar, and keyboardist/baritone guitarist Morgan Henderson remained in Seattle, joining forces with guitarist Devin Welch—a onetime Shoplifting member who had also played in an early Blood Brothers configuration—to establish Past Lives. Late that year the group entered the studio alongside engineer Dann Gallucci, resulting in the Strange Symmetry EP, issued digitally during summer 2008 and physically that November through Suicide Squeeze. Past Lives additionally supplied material to the 2008 installment of the audio magazine The Journal of Popular Noise. Working with producer Steve Fisk, the band completed its first full-length effort, the 2010 album Tapestry of Webs.
