Biography
Per Nielsen, a Danish trumpeter working as a jazz instrumentalist, moved hundreds of thousands of albums across a lengthy solo recording career that stretches over numerous decades and encompasses an extensive catalog of full-length releases, most earning Top 20 chart positions. His birth occurred on June 1, 1954, in Sønderborg, Syddanmark, Denmark, after which he launched his solo output in 1987 via Trumpet Concertos, with Music for Trumpet and Organ arriving in 1989. Six albums appeared throughout the 1990s, led in commercial terms by the gold-selling Trumpet Serenade (1996) and Trumpet Emotions (1998). His audience reach crested near the millennium with the platinum-selling albums My Greatest Moments (2000), My Way (2001), and Christmas Time (2002). For the balance of the decade he sustained a schedule of new releases every couple of years, among them the Top 20 hits With Friends (2005), Amazing Grace (2007), and Danske Toner (2009).
