Biography

Rally emerged in Glasgow, Scotland during 1994, merging alternative rock textures with Brit-pop sensibilities to shape their singular sound. The founding trio included J.V. Dobbin on vocals and guitar, bassist Alec Paterson, and drummer Stevie O'Leary, whose songs centered on ethereal melodies carried by shimmering guitar lines. After twelve months of concentrated rehearsals, the group booked studio time and completed its first demo recording. Once that disc reached outlets throughout Scotland’s main music hubs, bookings at leading local venues followed. Those energetic live sets quickly built a loyal audience and drew sustained press interest. The band’s debut album, Long Way to Go, appeared later and heightened the growing praise.
