Rosalie Cunningham, an English singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known for her theatrical vision and powerful voice, led the London goth-rock outfit Ipso Facto as well as the vaudevillian psych-metallers Purson. She launched her solo path in 2019 via a self-titled debut album. Three years afterward came the varied and singular Two Piece Puzzle, and in 2024 she delivered the expansive To Shoot Another Day while continuing to move across metal, pop, cabaret, and lounge.

A native of Southend-on-Sea, she assembled the all-female quartet Ipso Facto in 2007. The band’s retro aesthetic and distinctive blend of indie pop, garage rock, goth, and psychedelia quickly attracted a loyal audience, leading to several singles before the group disbanded in 2009. Cunningham then pursued even greater rock spectacle with Purson, whose style she characterized as “vaudeville carny psych.” Drawing on influences such as Deep Purple, T. Rex, Ten Years After, and Dresden Dolls, the ensemble issued its first album, The Circle and the Blue Door, through Metal Blade in 2013. After switching to Spinefarm, Purson followed with the colorful Desire's Magic Theatre in 2016 and folded in early 2017.

Cunningham resurfaced in 2019 with her own Cherry Red release, an album steeped in psych-rock, pop, and folk elements. Her second solo outing, Two Piece Puzzle, arrived in 2022; tracked with partner Rosco Wilson amid the Covid-19 lockdown, it spanned broad sonic ground and included work from Fairport Convention fiddler Ric Sanders. Two years later To Shoot Another Day surfaced, on which Cunningham performed the bulk of the instruments and presented a sly, distinctive collection of pop songs grounded in jazz, lounge, cabaret, and metallic psych rock.
