Biography
Serbian producer and DJ Scalameriya emerged from Kragujevac, the fourth-largest city in Serbia, and forged an isolated path in techno that ignored prevailing trends. His approach fused harder rhythms with fractured beats and futuristic textures, a direction already evident on the 2018 EP Hellzone Megapunk issued by Perc Trax.
From an early stage he wove his passions for anime, science fiction, and video games directly into the music. The first public step came in 2009 when he launched his own imprint Genesa and issued the Sandstorm EP, a minimal-techno statement that introduced the dystopian aesthetic threading through his subsequent work. Further 12-inches appeared on Eminor, Phobiq, and Globox, while European DJ tours steadily built his profile.
In 2012 he collaborated with Bosnian producer Forest People on the Devicta release for Planet Rhythm Records. Additional solo material followed on the same label, among them the 2014 EPs Lock Down and Subterranean Transmitter. The next year he paired with Italian producer VSK for joint outings on Power Vacuum and Perc Trax.
Around this time the atmospheric dystopia gave way to a faster, more abrasive industrial style. Scalameriya documented the change on his first full-length album, Hubris, which appeared on Genesa in 2016. Over the following two years he placed EPs with London’s Them label, Tommy Four Seven’s 47 imprint, and returned to Perc Trax for Hellzone Megapunk. In 2019 he revisited Power Vacuum with Enhance… Stop! and Them with the Forsaken EP.
