Biography
Sharna Bass drew inspiration from Sade and Lauryn Hill while showcasing her rich, smoky voice on recordings by dance outfits such as Clean Bandit and Gramercy during her teenage years. Early independent releases, among them the 2018 track “Buss A 9,” displayed a refined, introspective style of adult contemporary R&B.
Born in Kilburn, London, she came to the attention of Clean Bandit after the group overheard her singing at age 13. They included her two years later on the 2014 single “Extraordinary,” which reached the U.K. Top Five and opened doors to further features with Gramercy and K-Trap. Around the same period she joined EGA, the label that issued “Buss A 9” as her first solo outing in early 2018. Additional tracks appeared over the following years, culminating in her debut EP, Beautiful Chaos.
