Biography
Shattered Sun took shape in 2011 in Alice, Texas, as a blue-collar metalcore six-piece driven by guitarist Daniel Trejo, drummer Robert Garza, and vocalist Marcos Leal, whose common influences included Metallica, Killswitch Engage, Queensrÿche, and Unearth. Bassist Joseph Guajardo, keyboardist Henry Garza, and guitarist Jessie Santos later completed the lineup, allowing the group to record its debut EP, Confessions, with producer Robert Beltran at Precision Studio in Corpus Christi. Management ties with Breaking Bands LLC were established in 2014, followed swiftly by a contract with Victory Records and sessions for the band’s first full-length effort. Hope Within Hatred, again produced by Robert Beltran, appeared in May 2015. Their sophomore album, The Evolution of Anger, followed two years later.
