Biography
Originating from St. Petersburg, Florida, Sleepwave was established by vocalist Spencer Chamberlain following the breakup of metalcore giants Underoath, carrying forward the forceful intensity of his prior group while weaving in ambient and industrial textures to create a melodic, approachable style that tilts more toward the Smashing Pumpkins and Filter side of the modern hard rock spectrum. The outfit assembled in 2013 with Chamberlain covering vocals, guitar, bass, and programming together with his longtime friend Stephen Bowman on guitar, keyboards, bass, and programming, prompting a rapid signing to Epitaph and the start of sessions for their first full-length effort. Produced by David Bendeth (Paramore, Bring Me the Horizon, Of Mice and Men), the resulting Broken Compass appeared the next year.
