Spinabenz first drew widespread notice in 2021 after surfacing from Jacksonville’s underground scene as a key voice on the diss record “Who I Smoke,” whose biting verses rode a stark interpolation of Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” and quickly spread across the internet. A lifelong Floridian, he had already laid groundwork in the late 2010s through the standalone cuts “Blue Hundreds” and “Stripper Fun” plus the mixtape King Leonidas. In 2020 he joined Whoppa Wit Da Choppa for the joint project KU Lyfe, then opened 2021 with the Yungeen Ace feature “Sunday Service.” Additional solo tracks arrived in the first months of that year, yet it was his contribution to “Who I Smoke”—shared with Yungeen Ace, Whoppa Wit Da Choppa, and FastMoney Goon—that defined his breakthrough. The accompanying video landed on YouTube in March and surpassed twenty million views inside eight weeks, while the song itself reached streaming platforms the following month.
