Hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, rapper Charles Jones, professionally known as Foolio, transforms the hardships of his history into his songs, offering listeners a direct view of how he has navigated a violent childhood while acknowledging his present good fortune. In his early life in Jacksonville, Jones faced profound bereavement, losing more than ten friends to violence before reaching the age of 20. He himself narrowly escaped death after recovering from a gunshot injury, an event that prompted him to redirect his focus entirely toward music. Influenced by Drake and Eminem, Jones issued his first album, 6toven, in 2018. Across the following five years he completed five additional full-length releases, the most recent being Final Destination in 2023.
