Biography
Under the joint leadership of keyboardist Trammell Starks and conductor, producer and arranger Charles Sayre, the Taliesin Orchestra built its reputation through symphonic reinterpretations of leading New Age figures. The ensemble’s first project, Orinoco Flow: The Music of Enya, reached listeners in 1996 and was followed the next year by Forbidden Forest: The Music of George Winston. Also in 1997 the group issued Anthem, an album that departed from its established pattern by turning instead to classic rock material. Enya’s catalog supplied the source material once more for 1998’s Maiden of Mysteries, and in 2002 the orchestra assembled a “best of” collection drawn from those same recordings. After a period of relative inactivity, the Taliesin Orchestra resurfaced in 2002 with the gospel anthology Sacred.
