Biography
Drawing from their Chicago, Illinois roots, the Atlas Moth weave blues, doom, and psychedelic rock into post-metal explorations marked by dense, textural soundscapes. Rumbling guitars and synthesizers form the core of their approach, yielding a turbulent blend of weighty riffs and atmospheric currents that recalls both Isis and Pink Floyd. Candlelight issued the group’s debut full-length, A Glorified Piece of Blue Sky, in 2009. Two years later, Profound Lore released the follow-up album An Ache for the Distance. In 2013 the band shared a split with the Minnesota-based blackened sludge metal outfit Wolvhammer, then delivered its third studio long-player, The Old Believer, in 2014. The typically enigmatic Coma Noir surfaced in 2018.
