Biography
In Seattle's surf rock community, The Manatees integrated Tiki jazz, spy themes, and cocktail lounge into their sound. The quintet wove in covers of Venture material and an unsettling theremin atmosphere ahead of issuing the self-titled debut album near the end of 1999. Likenesses drawn to Dick Dale, The Beach Boys, and Danny Elfman preceded the early 2000 release of their second full-length, Snackin' With The Manatees.
