Biography
The New Frontiers came together in Dallas, Texas, where five natives—Nathan Pettijohn on lead vocals and guitar, Ryan Henry on bass, Jacob Chaney on guitar, Guy Turner on keyboards, and Alex Bhore on drums—initially performed as Stellamaris. Under that earlier name the musicians independently issued an EP in 2006 before adopting their present identity. The group’s atmospheric mix of indie pop and alt-country influences shaped a follow-up EP called Tour, which surfaced in 2007. After signing with The Militia Group, they completed the full-length Mending; the album reached listeners in early 2008 and drew widespread critical acclaim.
