Biography
Deriving their moniker from Edgar Allan Poe’s short story “The Masque of the Red Death,” the extreme metal unit hailing from Bath, New York fuses punishing grindcore with caustic death metal. The band coalesced in 2002 with vocalist Paul Hamblin, guitarist Josh Williammee, drummer Graham Mitchell, guitarist Brian VanGelder, and bassist Karl Janovec at the core, weathering numerous personnel shifts before issuing their first full-length album, External Frames of Reference, on Metal Blade in 2005. Their second album, Godmakers, arrived in 2008 and showcased the lineup of Hamblin, Mitchell, guitarist Aaron Conti, guitarist Mark Kelly, and Jordan Rathbun. The group disbanded soon after the record’s appearance.
