Biography
The Rochester, NY-based epic emo-rock quintet the Sunstreak—previously operating under the name One Year Nothing—consists of bassist Jason Sarkis, vocalist Tony Rebis, guitarist Jack Flynn, drummer Gary Foster, and guitarist/keyboardist David Schuler. Their connection to the Vans Warped Tour first formed in 2002, with a return engagement in 2006 under the Sunstreak name occurring immediately after they issued their self-titled, self-produced debut full-length through B and W Records. On that second tour the group earned the sought-after designation of Warped's "Barbecue Band," which required a daily side-stage performance plus preparing dinner each night for every other act on the bill—a slot for which bands compete vigorously every summer. Their consistent effort produced tangible results when the album moved just over 25,000 units in two months, establishing the Sunstreak as only the second band in history to reach a Billboard chart without a distribution deal.
