Biography
Forming far from the West Coast roots of blink-182 or the Canadian origins of sound-alikes Simple Plan and Sum 41, Red Car War launched in Dallas, TX. The group swiftly captured the attention of the emo-pop scene, winning over legions of teenage female fans drawn to the members' magnetic presence, youthful appeal, and signature swept-across-the-forehead hairstyles; one of countless MySpace tributes captured this enthusiasm with the line "Josh is completely adorkable and Evan is absolutely gorgeous." Founding members Evan Lester on lead vocals and guitar, Josh Cutlip on drums, and Davey Hoogerwerf on backing vocals and bass were soon joined by guitarist Garett Bouline once the act had begun carving out its place locally. Nationwide street-team promotion of RCW, combined with placements on Grey's Anatomy, paved the way for their breakthrough booking on the 2007 Vans Warped Tour. Two EPs arrived in quick succession: the self-titled Red Car Wire in 2007, followed by the high-energy Let's Never Get Older in October 2008.
