Hailing from Portland, Oregon, Trevor Dahl performs under the stage name Plug in Stereo as a singer and songwriter whose style centers on emotionally charged pop built around acoustic instrumentation. Born in 1993, he was raised in a household steeped in music because his father played guitar. Largely self-taught, Dahl began composing original material by sixth grade, and during high school he divided his time between performing in a hardcore band and laying down more acoustic solo recordings. After choosing the name Plug in Stereo, he started posting his tracks on the internet, gradually cultivating a dedicated audience that eventually drew the interest of Triple Crown Records and led to a recording deal. Subsequent tours paired him with Dashboard Confessional, Never Shout Never, the Ready Set, and additional acts. His first full-length album, Nothing to Something, appeared in 2011 and included the single “Oh Darling.” Additional EPs arrived in the following years, among them Patience in 2012 and Little Peace in 2014. During that period Dahl stepped away from solo work to launch the DJ and electronic production trio Cheat Codes with Kevin Ford and Matthew Russell. The group achieved success in 2016 with the single “Sex,” which incorporated a sample from Salt-N-Pepa’s “Let’s Talk About Sex.”
