Atlanta producer TM88 shaped rap's sonic landscape through his distinctive yet widely appealing beats. His path began in the early 2010s alongside 808 Mafia, the collective tied to Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame, which later led to sessions with Migos, Drake, 2 Chainz, and many more. He shared top billing on TGOD Mafia: Rude Awakening (2016) alongside Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa while supplying multiple cuts for Young Thug's JEFFERY (2016) and crafting Lil Uzi Vert's 2017 smash "XO TOUR Llif3," a track that accumulated more than one and a half billion streams. Beyond those high-profile placements, TM88 issued his own material, including the 2018 mixtape 88 Birdz and the 2021 Pi'erre Bourne joint project Yo!88.
Born Bryan Lamar Simmons in Miami, Florida, he recorded early material with Brick Squad's Slim Dunkin prior to entering 808 Mafia, the outfit started by Southside and Lex Luger. Between 2012 and 2013 the crew dropped two self-titled mixtapes while TM88 earned individual credits on various Gucci, Future, and Young Thug recordings. He linked with Wiz Khalifa for the first time in 2014; the rapper then connected him with Taylor Gang co-owner Juicy J. TM88 handled the solo track "You and I 2016" featuring TY Dolla $ign for the ex-Three 6 Mafia frontman and received co-production credit with Juicy and Wiz on the 2016 Atlantic Records project TGOD Mafia: Rude Awakening, which entered the Billboard 200 at number 26. That same year he supplied four beats for Young Thug's JEFFERY, an album that peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200 and drew widespread praise. Teaming with JW Lucas, TM88 co-produced Lil Uzi Vert's 2017 single "XO TOUR Llif3," which reached number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned year-end accolades from multiple outlets. Further credits followed for Moneybagg Yo and Gunna, while 88 Birdz (with Doe Boy) surfaced in 2018. "Slayerr" (with Lil Uzi Vert) arrived in 2019.
