Biography
Atlanta-based beatmaker William Moore, known professionally as DJ Esco, specializes in hard-edged Dirty South productions that echo the trap sound of peers Zaytoven, Mike WiLL Made It, and Metro Boomin. Years of underground mixtape work led to mainstream exposure in 2016 when the radio single “Too Much Sauce,” featuring Future and Lil Uzi Vert, gained traction. His first proper studio album, Kolorblind, arrived in spring 2018 and reached the upper half of the U.S. Rap chart.
Moore first connected with Future in 2008 and soon became the rapper’s regular DJ and A&R representative. Over time he also worked alongside Yo Gotti, Rae Sremmurd, Jim Jones, Young Scooter, Plies, Gucci Mane, and Waka Flocka Flame. Among his earlier releases, the projects No Sleep and Ball Like Me stood out, yet the 2015 collaboration 56 Nights with Future earned the greatest attention. That mixtape took shape while Esco served nearly two months in a Dubai jail cell spanning late 2014 and early 2015; 808 Mafia contributed additional production.
A second joint effort, Project E.T. (“Esco Terrestrial”), surfaced in 2016 and drew further inspiration from the same Middle Eastern episode. The set contained “100it Racks,” which included Drake, 2 Chainz, and Future, along with the single “Too Much Sauce,” which charted on the Billboard Hot 200 toward the end of the year. Kolorblind followed two years later and featured an extensive roster of guests—Young Thug, Rich the Kid, Nas, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, O.T. Genasis, ScHoolboy Q, Ty Dolla $ign, and Future, who appeared on every one of its eleven songs. In 2020 Esco joined forces with Doe Boy for the album 56 Birdz, which spawned the track “Pop It.”
