Emerging as a Dominican Latin and rock foursome, Toque Profundo first took the stage in 1989 during the local Olimpiadas Rock contest. The group captured its debut album, Sueños y Pesadillas del Tercer Mundo, in 1992 and soon received a Cassandra Award for Best Rock Band before appearing alongside other regional acts at the Rock Sobre Las Piedras festival. In 1993 Toque Profundo entered the event in Benidorm with “Dios Salve Al Viajero,” a song later placed on the soundtrack of the film Azúcar Amarga. The ensemble issued Moneda in 1996.
