VASSY stands out as a commanding voice, composer, and studio architect whose output includes repeated ascents to the summit of Billboard’s dance listings along with multiple platinum and gold distinctions. Drawing on soul, jazz, and reggae roots, the Greek-Australian performer channels an expressive delivery into exuberant, large-scale house and EDM club records. After emerging in 2012 via “We Are Young,” taken from her second album Beautiful Day, she has issued collaborative singles alongside dance-music heavyweights David Guetta, Tiësto, Afrojack, and Scooter. Her catalog has appeared in numerous advertising campaigns and feature films, while live sets have graced flagship EDM events including Ultra Music Festival and Tomorrowland Belgium. The 2021 release “Chase,” recorded with Bonka, extended her streak of American dance-chart leaders and simultaneously claimed the top spot on Australia’s club rankings.

Vasiliki Karagiorgos, born in Darwin, Australia, first attracted widespread notice in 2003 when her entry won national broadcaster Triple J’s Unearthed Song of the Year contest. Warner Bros. signed her that same year, issuing the debut album My Affection in 2005 after the advance single “Wanna Fly.” A 2006 U.S. distribution agreement expanded her reach; placements followed in the Queen Latifah film Last Holiday, the series Grey’s Anatomy and Ugly Betty, and commercials for Chevy, Skechers, Sprite, and Hilton Hotels. Relocating to the United States in 2008, she finalized a fresh contract with Ultra Records. Her first American single, the Richard Vission-produced “History,” arrived in 2010 and was promoted through nationwide club dates plus campaigns for Google, Target, Victoria’s Secret, and Nike. Mid-2012 brought the sophomore album Beautiful Day, which included production contributions from Tim Myers, formerly of OneRepublic. The track “We Are Young” from that project topped Billboard’s dance chart, establishing VASSY as the first Australian artist to achieve that position with a debut solo charting single; the song also accompanied trailers for Disney’s Oscar-winning Frozen and Tina Fey’s Admission.

A 2014 alliance with David Guetta and Showtek on “BAD” propelled her visibility sharply higher, landing the single inside the Top Ten in France, Australia, and Sweden and securing strong placements on the U.K., Belgian, and Austrian charts. The recording ultimately earned double-platinum and gold certifications amid more than a billion streams and secured VASSY an IDMA Award for Best Featured Vocalist Performance. Another 2015 team-up, this time with Tiësto and KSHMR on “Secrets,” repeated the pattern of multi-territory success, attaining triple platinum in Sweden, platinum in the Netherlands and Finland, and gold in Canada and Denmark while claiming an IDMA trophy for Best Electro Progressive/House track. Also in 2015 she issued the album We Are Young, which merged indie-pop and soul elements with luminous electronica. In 2016 she rejoined Tiësto to co-produce the standalone single “Nothing to Lose,” which reached number one on Mediabase’s U.S. Dance Airplay chart and number one on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart; she further shared festival stages with the producer at Tomorrowland, Electric Zoo, and Ultra Miami. The next year brought the Afrojack and Oliver Rosa collaboration “Lost,” another chart-topping entry.

“Doomsday,” released in 2018 with Leodato, marked the inaugural single on her Sony-distributed KMV imprint and became her fifth Billboard club-chart leader. “Concrete Heart,” issued in 2019 with Disco Fries, supplied the sixth. “Trouble” and the 2020 release “Oxygen,” recorded with Outgang and Two Worlds Apart, each peaked at number two, before she returned to the summit in 2021 with “Chase” alongside Bonka.
