Oliver Symons, the Belgian musician previously active in Bazart and Noble Tea, operates under the solo alias Warhola to fuse dramatic indie electronica with woozy alt-R&B. Born in Sint-Job-in-'t-Goor within Antwerp province, he first captured national attention at fifteen by competing for Belgium’s 2008 Junior Eurovision Song Contest entry. Victory followed, and that November he performed the winning song “Shut Up” before an international audience, ultimately placing eleventh. Less than two years afterward he assembled the indie rock outfit Noble Tea alongside guitarist Emiel Van Den Abbeele, guitarist and keyboardist Daan Schepers, bassist Moreno Claes, and drummer Antony Foscez; the group delivered its Solitary Motions EP in 2012.

After completing his coursework at PXL-Music in Hasselt during 2014, Symons launched Warhola at the same institution. The project’s debut single, the off-kilter “Unravel,” appeared in March 2015. That year he also established the synth-friendly indie pop collective Bazart, which issued a self-titled EP in November. Early 2016 brought Bazart its first chart entry when “Goud” reached number twelve on Belgium’s singles chart, while Symons simultaneously released Warhola’s inaugural EP, Aura, in April. Later that year the Bazart EP climbed to number forty-two on the Belgian album chart. Propelled by the additional Top 20 singles “Chaos” and “Nacht,” the band’s full-length debut Echo, issued by PIAS, attained the top position.

Throughout this period Symons built a parallel production résumé with artists including Tsar B and Felix Pallas. He resumed solo activity under Warhola in 2017 with the single “Jewels,” followed in March 2018 by the hip-hop-infused track “Promise.”
