Biography
Born in Ghent in 1979, multi-instrumentalist Frederik Sioen rose to prominence within Belgium’s singer-songwriter community from the early 2000s onward. After completing classical studies he entered pop and rock competitions as a solo performer, later forming a steady ensemble whose members included Renaud Ghilbert, subsequently the violinist for Absynthe Minded. This lineup led to a commission to score the 2003 film Team Spirit II; that same year Sioen issued his first album, See You Naked. The follow-up Ease Your Mind appeared in 2004 and A Potion in 2007, after which he joined forces with several local South African players to cut the 2009 album Calling Up Soweto. His fifth studio release, issued under his own name, surfaced in 2012.
