Wiwek, the Dutch artist from Holland, has risen to prominence as a sought-after DJ and producer whose forward-thinking electronic dance creations he labeled "jungle terror." Born Wiwek Mahab to an Indian family, he spent his childhood in a modest Netherlands town, where his father—a traditional Indian musician—introduced him to music at a young age. During adolescence, however, he gravitated toward a steady stream of electronic dance and trance material, soon trying his hand at crafting original productions. Drawing from his Indian roots, he incorporated samples of traditional hand drums and steel drum kicks into conventional EDM arrangements. While posting his work online and seeking a fitting category, he devised the phrase "jungle terror," a designation whose appeal helped him cultivate a dedicated digital audience.

His recordings appeared on playlists curated by Tiësto, Fedde Le Grand, and additional selectors by 2011. Around the same period he issued several tracks on Tocadisco’s Toca45 imprint, among them “Koala” and “Bomber Squad,” and delivered an official remix of Buraka Som Sistema’s “Hangover.” In 2012 he partnered with producer Gregor Salto to launch the RIMBU label, which debuted the single “Angry Birdz” and later “On Your Mark.” Subsequent releases have surfaced on Spinnin Records, Mad Decent, Barong Family, and further imprints. As a live performer he has appeared at Ultra Miami, EDC Vegas, Electric Forrest, Fuji Rock, Parookaville, Tomorrowland, and numerous other festivals. In 2016 Wiwek joined the roster of Skrillex’s OWSLA label and issued the EP The Free & Rebellious.
