Biography
After the sweeping triumphs notched by Ace of Base throughout 1993 and 1994, the act’s chief architect Jonas Berggren launched Yaki-Da as an unofficial side project and brought aboard vocalists Marie Knutsen and Linda Schönberg. The pair unveiled their first long-player, Pride, in 1995, with the lead track “I Saw You Dancing” earning modest airplay in several European territories and limited traction stateside. Follow-up singles “Pride of Africa” and “Show Me Love,” however, registered no meaningful response. Their Berggren-free sophomore set, A Small Step for Love, appeared in 1998 and met the same indifferent reception.
