Young-Jae, a South Korean vocalist and performer whose pop style draws from electronic, R&B, and hip-hop traditions, first drew notice as lead singer of the K-Pop group B.A.P. He later established his own path with the 2019 EPs Fancy and O,on while also taking on television roles in the 2020 series Mr. Queen and the 2021 drama Police University.

Born Yoo Young-Jae in Seoul, South Korea, in 1994, he discovered a passion for the stage during middle school when he joined friends in a talent competition. After that experience he pursued formal lessons and began trying out for multiple agencies. While still attending high school he trained under JYP Entertainment before departing to join TS Entertainment. In 2012 he stepped into the spotlight as main vocalist of the six-member act B.A.P., whose debut single “Warrior” climbed into the Top 40 on the Goan chart. The band sustained strong chart momentum, securing a number-one Korean debut with the 2014 full-length album First Sensibility and a number-two placement with 2016’s Noir.

After B.A.P. disbanded in 2019, Young-Jae started his solo chapter by creating the independent imprint J World. Later that year he issued his first mini-album, Fancy, which peaked at number 15 on the Goan chart, and made his acting bow in the drama Woman of 9.9 Billion. His follow-up EP, O,on, appeared in October 2019 and reached number 20 in Korea. Additional screen work soon followed, including lead roles in the historical series Mr. Queen in 2020 and the 2021 show Police University.
