Biography
Formed in Nashville, TN during the early 2000s, 33Miles drew from the upbeat alt-CCM style exemplified by Switchfoot and Myriad while incorporating elements of contemporary country. Lead singer Jason Barton described their mission as wanting to "love on God's people." The group, which included guitarist Chris Lockwood and pianist Collin Stoddard alongside Barton, signed promptly with INO Records for the release of their self-titled debut album in 2007. One Life, issued in 2008, marked their major breakthrough by reaching the fourth position on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart and achieving modest placement within the Billboard 200. Following a holiday-themed project in 2009, Collin Stoddard departed to pursue a role as worship pastor, prompting Barton and Lockwood to proceed as a duo on the 2010 album Today.
