In 2015 the alternative electronic trio 888 assembled in Denver, Colorado, drawing members from the dissolved hardcore act Drop Dead, Gorgeous that had operated between 2004 and 2011. Vocalist Danny Stillman, keyboardist/programmer Aaron Rothe, and drummer Danny Cooper merged emo vocals with propulsive dance rhythms in the vein of Breathe Carolina and 3OH!3. The band handled production on its own for the debut EP The Decades, spotlighting the cut "Critical Mistakes." Victories in local Denver contests and mounting U.S. radio exposure paved the way for their 2017 single "Older Now."
