Emerging from her stint on The Voice in 2018, Alexa Cappelli turned toward a vivid strain of youthful pop. Although she fell short of winning her season, the exposure gave her the chance to issue a run of singles that sharpened her bright, energetic style. By the time the Confused @ 22 EP arrived in 2022, her music had come to fuse '90s alternative rock, new wave accents, and present-day electronic rhythms.

Born August 9, 1999, in Upland, California, Alexa Cappelli shared that arrival with her twin brother, Nick. An early passion for music led her to study vocals with a local worship leader. At 15 she entered the Orange County School of the Arts, concentrating on commercial music, and during her senior year she auditioned for The Voice.

Kelly Clarkson coached her on Season 14, which premiered in 2018. Cappelli was cut after delivering OneRepublic’s “Stop and Stare” in the Live Playoffs, yet the appearance quickly opened a recording path. She independently issued the three-song EP The Colors That Make You in 2019, then followed with four 2020 singles: “Forbidden,” “Stuck in the Moment,” “I’ll Be Okay,” and “Just Tell Me.” Another trio—“Can I Come Over?,” “Say Something,” and “Whiplash”—surfaced in 2021, while “Body Language” previewed the February 2022 release of Confused @ 22.

After that EP, Arista signed her and delivered the 2022 singles “Could’ve Just Left Me Alone,” “Temporary,” and “Lose Lose,” plus a holiday version of Wham!’s “Last Christmas.”
