Taylor Gayle Rutherford performs under the name GAYLE as an American singer and songwriter whose breakthrough arrived in 2021 via the anthemic debut single “ABCDEFU,” a track blending pop and punk that ascended to the summit of pop charts across numerous nations. Two EPs titled A Study of the Human Experience, Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 appeared the following year, securing her first entry on the Billboard 200. Born in Texas and now based in Tennessee, the artist relocated from Dallas to Nashville at seventeen in pursuit of a music career, drawing the notice of Kara DioGuardi, the American Idol judge and music publisher, who facilitated a recording contract with Atlantic. During 2023 GAYLE released the singles “Everybody Hates Me” and “Leave Me for Dead,” placed “Butterflies” on the Barbie film soundtrack album, and opened for Taylor Swift on the American dates of The Eras Tour.
