Biography
Singer and songwriter Amaury Gutiérrez first developed a passion for music during his high school years in Cuba. Earning a scholarship allowed him to begin vocal lessons, which he later supplemented with piano and guitar training. Following his relocation to Havana, the performer collaborated with trumpet player Arturo Sandoval and subsequently joined the local band Afrocuba. In 1993, during a Central American tour alongside a second band, Amaury Gutiérrez chose to base himself in Mexico so he could launch a solo career. A contract with Universal opened the door to wider recognition in the regional scene and led to the recording of a self-titled album in Rio de Janeiro throughout July and August 1998. The project enjoyed strong commercial reception upon its swift release.
