Biography
A$AP Nast, born Tariq Devega, works as an American rapper and hip-hop artist whose primary recognition stems from his role in the Harlem-rooted collective A$AP Mob. Growing up in West Harlem placed him in frequent company with his cousin A$AP Rocky, who would later become another fixture in the same crew. He left school prior to earning his diploma, driven exclusively by the goal of building a music career, and ranked among the earliest recruits to A$AP Mob. Initially performing under the alias “New York Nast,” he later adopted the shared A$AP prefix once the rest of the members aligned under that banner. His first official appearance came on one of A$AP Rocky’s earliest recordings, the track “Uptown,” followed by several features on Rocky’s debut mixtape Live.Love.A$AP. He also contributed to the group’s inaugural collective project, Lords Never Worry, after which the members embarked on a promotional tour together. The subsequent A$AP Mob single “Trillmatic” had originally been slated as the lead for their planned debut album, though that full-length project was ultimately abandoned; Nast anchored the song, which drew positive notices from both reviewers and listeners. He fronted additional singles for the Mob while also appearing on the English rapper Skepta’s “Ladies Hit Squad” alongside D Double E. In 2016 he rejoined the crew for the single “Presidents” and then launched an extensive solo tour across Europe.
