ATFC serves as the performing alias for Aydin Hasirci, also known as Aydin the Funki Chile, who ranked among England’s leading house DJs and producers around the start of the new millennium. His time behind the decks began in his teens across London clubs. In the middle of the 1990s he enrolled at Bournemouth University on England’s southern coast, where he secured a regular slot at the Gardening Club. After finishing his studies and moving back to the capital in 1997, he took a position at Uptown Records, one of the country’s top record shops, and started issuing his own tracks through the BBE label.

His first major success arrived in 1999 with the Defected single “In and Out of My Life,” issued under the separate name OnePhatDeeva. The track became a sizable hit on the English charts, earned widespread international licensing, and appeared on numerous compilations; built as a mash-up, it drew its instrumental hook from Fatboy Slim’s “Right Here, Right Now” and its vocal from Adeva’s “In and Out of My Life.” The follow-up OnePhatDeeva release on the same label, “Bad Habit” in 2000, repeated that strong chart performance and similar licensing reach. The next Defected outing, “Sleep Talk” in 2001, marked the first release credited directly to ATFC and enjoyed solid but comparatively modest attention.

Around this period Hasirci launched his own imprint, OnePhatDeeva Records, beginning with the 2002 track “Erotik.” Lacking the marketing support Defected had supplied, these later releases achieved smaller commercial results, yet by then his standing as a DJ billed under the ATFC name had grown so firmly that his studio work frequently took a supporting role. A particularly active year came in 2008, when he made his first appearance on the prominent U.K. house outlet Toolroom Records with “Ya Killin Me” and compiled the album Defected in the House: Miami 08.
