Biography
Baby Rasta, born Wilmer Alicia, established himself early as a commanding presence in reggaeton through sustained partnership with Samuel Gerena and through high-profile guest spots on major industry releases that enhanced his standing. As one member of the well-known duo Baby Rasta y Gringo, he contributed to four albums—two issued by Sony International and two by Universal Music Latino—before stepping out independently to explore a solo path. Persistent conflicts with producers over perceived favoritism toward Baby Rasta prompted Gringo to pursue his own separate career. Baby Rasta’s debut solo project on Universal, La Ultima Risa, entered the U.S. charts at number nine and yielded the radio hits “Ay de Mi!” and “Capturo,” signaling strong prospects for the artist within a still-emerging style.
