Irreverent Canadian singer/songwriter bbno$ ("baby no money") fuses hip-hop, R&B, and electronic elements into an infectious, hypnotic sound. He first gained traction in the late 2010s, landing a breakout viral track in 2019 via the Y2K-produced single "Lalala," which earned platinum certification and registered on charts throughout Europe, Australasia, and the U.S. A regular partner of like-minded rapper Yung Gravy on the Baby Gravy series, bbno$ has kept issuing inventive albums such as 2020's Goodluck, Have Fun and 2022's Bag or Die. Several singles followed in 2024, among them "It Boy."

Born Alexander Gumuchian in Vancouver, he experimented with piano and percussion during childhood yet preferred swimming to music. A back injury sustained in high school ended his athletic ambitions and prompted him to study kinesiology at college level so he could better grasp the mechanics of pain, an experience that ultimately steered him toward songwriting. Early efforts took shape within the Broke Boy Gang, a Vancouver crew that performed and recorded together briefly before disbanding. Working solo, Gumuchian began releasing material online in 2016 under the name "bbnomula." Drawing on trap beats and a sharp comedic edge, he cultivated an international underground following that stretched from the U.S. to China, attracting interest from other rappers including Minnesota's Yung Gravy. Their first joint single, "Run This Shit," surfaced in 2017, followed later that year by the full EP Baby Gravy.

In 2018 bbno$ issued his debut solo project, Bb Steps, alongside the collaborative album Whatever with So Loki. Both found favor with his existing audience, yet mainstream attention arrived only the next year. His sophomore LP, Recess, reached listeners in early 2019 and featured appearances by Lentra, Y2K, and TrippyThaKid; it was soon overshadowed by the single "Lalala." Circulating widely on social platforms, the track amassed more than 500 million streams and appeared on charts worldwide. Several months after release, a remix featuring Carly Rae Jepsen and Enrique Iglesias helped secure its platinum status. Gumuchian capped his breakthrough year with the album i don't care at all, which included contributions from Lewis Grant and Lil Mayo as well as another Yung Gravy cut, the buoyant "shining on my ex." That track later appeared on the pair's follow-up, Baby Gravy 2, issued on Valentine's Day 2020. The project became their first to reach the Billboard 200 and carried additional input from Y2K, Spark Master Tape, Cuco, and TrippyThaKid. He returned that October with the full-length Good Luck, Have Fun.

Two further EPs surfaced in 2021: My Oh My and Eat Ya Veggies, the latter housing the Top 30 Canadian single "Edamame" featuring Rich Brian. The single "Mathematics" and album Bag or Die both arrived in 2022. "Still" appeared in 2023, as did the collaborative album Baby Gravy 3. Later that year bbno$ released "SOS" with KnowKnow and was featured on Tiny Meat Gang's "Washed." In 2024 he dropped the Tommy Cash collaboration "Tango" along with the solo singles "Lil' Freak" and "It Boy."
