Biography
Originating from scattered spots across England and Greece, Beach Baby operates as a four-piece devoted to melodic indie rock shaded by post-punk sensibilities. Lawrence Pumfrey and Ollie Pash, who serve as co-songwriters, singers, and guitarists—with Pash also a music major—launched the project through an advertisement placed at Goldsmiths, part of the University of London. Bass player Iraklis Theocharopoulos and drummer Shep Hodgson completed the roster in summer 2013. Their first single reached listeners in early 2015, when the reflective “Ladybird” drew critical notice and earned licensing for the Netflix series Flaked. Momentum in London clubs prompted a contract with Island Records, after which the band appeared at festivals across England and at New York City’s CMJ. Later in 2015 they issued the new wavy Limousine EP, whose four tracks were carried forward onto the full-length debut No Mind No Money, released in September 2016.
